‘Flavonoids’ in Berries and Red Wine Can Reduce Erectile Dysfunction

A new study revealed that, the foods enrich in flavonoids may decrease the risk of erectile dysfunction. The foods like berries, citrus fruits and red wine, may reduce the complications of erectile dysfunction.

The research is conducted by a group of researchers from the University of East Anglia at Harvard and the report published in an American Journal named ‘Clinical Nutrition.’ Flavonoids are responsible for growing the biochemical that gives fruits and vegetables vivid colors. Researchers found a link between three specific flavonoids – flavanones, anthocyanins, and flavones with lower erectile dysfunction rates.
Huge amount of anthocyanins are found in berries, blueberries, blackberries, cherries, currants and red wine. Research suggests, citrus fruits contain high levels of two other Flavonoids called flavanones and flavones.

A a nutrition professor from that University named East Anglia, men who consumed highly favonoids food regularly has 10 percent less suffering of erectile dysfunction. She also added that the portion of these foods can be very little and just a few portion in a week. The researcher involved 25,000 older and middle-aged men. All these participants were in good perfect physical and mental health. The men were asked about their diet and sexual health over last 20 years. They also checked up their physical activity, body weigh, caffeine consumption and smoking habits. Finally, the researcher found from the question-answering session there is a positive link between flavonoids and erectile health, and it works best when a man perform regular exercise.

Eric Rimm, a nutrition professor at Harvard said, “Erectile dysfunction is often an early barometer of poor vascular function and offers critical opportunity to intervene and prevent cardiovascular disease, heart attack, and even death”. There were previous results findings that followed flavonoids link to improve cardiovascular health. Now it is analyzed that, the citrus fruits or flavonoids included food can improve sexual health and it is prove that it can reduce erectile dysfunction.
