Through a statement, the attacker announced that it will continue to defend the “Albiceleste” forgetting about the decision to step aside he took after losing the final Centenary Cup against Chile. “I see that there are many problems in Argentine football and do not intend to create one more. I do not want to cause any harm, I always pretended the opposite, help in any way I could,” he argued in the text. He added. “We need to fix many things from our Argentine football, but prefer to do it from within rather than criticizing from the outside”
Many Argentina supporters were upset after Messi announced he would be leaving the team after their tragic loss to Chile in the 2016 La Copa America Final.
Feeling the love from his supporters, Messi witnessed thousands flock into the streets of Argentina wit signs asking him not to leave, and statues of him going up around the country.
“I want to thank all the people who wanted me to continue playing with Argentina. Hopefully we’ll give you some joy soon.”
